What it does
Zynaptiq calls PUNCH an "intelligent impact inductor": a processor that adds impact and contour to single sounds, tracks, stems or full mixes.
- Bands: more than 100 bands of filtering for detailed control.
- Algorithms: two alternative processing modes.
- Output: a transparent output clipper.
- Channels: up to 16, for immersive formats.
- Technology: source separation, signal statistics and frequency-domain processing, which Zynaptiq says lets it work on material that is already dynamically processed.
When to use it
PUNCH is a multiband transient tool that suits whole mixes and stems more than single drum hits. Compared with SPL Transient Designer, which is simpler and more immediate on individual sounds, PUNCH is the one to try on a finished mix that sounds flat.
