What it does
XLN Audio's DS-10 is a transient shaper made for drums, beats and loops, with Attack for more "smack" and Sustain for more body.
- Three modes: Kick, Snare and Bus, each tuned for that source.
- Mojo: a character control that adds colour to one frequency range while leaving the rest; it acts as Tightness in Kick mode, Body in Snare mode and Presence in Bus mode.
- Algorithms: Classic, Natural and Smooth.
- Other controls: a waveform display, output gain and soft clip.

When to use it
DS-10 is the fastest route to good drums in the list. Its modes and Mojo knob do some of the tonal work that Boz Transgressor 3 handles with separate EQs, but with far fewer decisions. It's less general than SPL Transient Designer Plus or Smack Attack, which work well on non-drum sources too.
- Best for: kicks, snares, drum loops and full drum buses in beat-making.
- Genres: hip-hop, trap, lo-fi, electronic and rock.
- Look elsewhere if: you need multiband control on a full bus or detailed envelope shaping for non-drum sources.
- Tip: try the Natural or Smooth algorithm before Classic on kicks.

Well liked as a quick, focused drum tool.
- MusicRadar (2016) called it "more targeted and effective" for drums than a typical transient shaper, singling out the Mojo tightness on kicks and snares; the Classic algorithm sounds "positively lacklustre" next to Natural.
