What it does
XMEQ is a low-cost "Mastering Tone EQ" from Xilentech (also spelled Xilentch). Instead of fully sweepable bands, it offers "carefully selected frequency points" that the developer says come from years of mastering experience, so broad tonal moves stay musical and quick.
- Fixed frequency points: preset band frequencies chosen for mastering, so you pick and boost or cut rather than hunt for a frequency.
- High end: aimed at adding a silky sheen to the top.
- Mids: aimed at clarity and punch.
- Low end: aimed at weight and fullness.
- Vintage-style design: a vintage, hardware-inspired look.
- Light on CPU: runs in real time with low CPU use, so it can sit on the master bus without strain.
KVR lists version 2.0. It is sold through the KVR Marketplace, and KVR also lists a free demo. The developer's pages don't give the exact band frequencies or gain ranges.

When to use it
XMEQ is a cheap, simple choice for broad tone shaping on a master or mix bus, where you want a few musical moves rather than precise control. Its fixed-frequency approach is close in spirit to the Pultec Passive EQ Collection and PuigTec EQs, but it costs far less and makes no claim to model specific hardware. Compared with Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova, it has no sweepable bands, no analyser and no dynamic EQ, so it can't fix a single problem frequency. With so little published detail on its bands, it is best tried with the demo before buying.
- Best for: quick top-end air, mid presence and low-end weight on masters, the mix bus and stems.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need surgical or dynamic EQ (Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova), or a faithful Pultec-style emulation (Pultec Passive EQ Collection).
