Analog-style VU meter plugin for monitoring levels.
Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: metering, utility, bus processing, full mix, mixing, classic, mastering, mix bus, subscription, tracking.
What it does
VU Meter is a level meter that uses the classic average-level (VU) method.
- Purpose: tracking and mixing to hit optimal levels and keep headroom.
- Meter type: shows average level rather than peaks.
It's included in the Waves Essential and Waves Ultimate subscriptions.
When to use it
Handy for gain staging: putting a VU meter at the start of a channel or bus helps you set levels by average loudness rather than by peaks. It's a simple utility, not a loudness (LUFS) meter; for that see WLM Plus.
