Bass enhancer that uses psychoacoustic harmonics to make low end audible on small speakers.

Best for: Bass, Drums, Mastering. Genres: Hip-Hop & Trap, Electronic & EDM, Pop.

Keywords: bass, enhancement, drums, mastering, mixing, single-band, spacious.

What it does

Renaissance Bass is a bass enhancer from Waves' Renaissance series. It aims to give the low end more richness and depth while keeping it clear on small playback systems.

Psychoacoustic enhancement: adds harmonics so bass is heard on speakers that can't reproduce the lowest frequencies (per Waves' description of the plugin).
Where it works: Waves says it holds up across different monitoring environments.

When to use it

Use it when a bass line or kick disappears on laptop, phone or Bluetooth speakers. It works by adding audible harmonics rather than sub content; for actual sub-octave generation, Waves' own Submarine is the alternative.

Suits any genre where the bass needs to translate.
