What it does
PuigChild models the Fairchild tube compressor/limiter in two versions: the 660 (mono) and the 670 (stereo). Waves developed it with Jack Joseph Puig.
- Two versions: 660 mono and 670 stereo.
- Sidechain and parallel: both supported.
- Character: vintage tube compression.
When to use it
For the smooth, thick vari-mu sound on vocals, the mix bus or mastering. It is the only Fairchild emulation among the rated compressors; unlike Waves' CLA-76 and CLA-2A, which are FET and opto designs, it is vari-mu. Suits pop, rock, soul and jazz.
