What it does
MondoMod is a modulation plugin that Waves describes as an exclusive combination of linked AM, FM and rotation modulators, giving textures from tranquil to turbulent.
- Three modulators: amplitude, frequency and rotation, which can be used separately or together.
- Range: from gentle chorus-like movement to extreme, wobbling effects.
When to use it
Reach for it when a plain chorus or tremolo is too static and you want movement built from several linked modulators, such as vibrato, tremolo or rotary-style swirl. It is more of a sound-design tool than a single-purpose effect, and sits nearer to Soundtoys MicroShift and Valhalla UberMod than to a simple tremolo.
Good on guitars, keys, pads and synths in psych, ambient and electronic music.
