A drum replacer built around a Learn button: it analyzes the performance, sets detection automatically and lets you pick and layer samples.

It handles ghost notes and bleed with an Onset Gate, includes an internal CR8 sampler and COSMOS sample browsing, and ships with a zero-latency live version.

Best for: Drums. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: drums, low latency, samples & loops, kick, snare, zero-latency, AI/machine learning, AI assistant, live performance, simple, utility.

What it does

InTrigger is Waves' drum replacement plugin: "Click Learn. Pick sample. Done." It learns a drum track, detects hits automatically and triggers replacement or layered samples while trying to keep the drummer's dynamics.

Automatic hit detection: Learn sets the threshold for you and catches ghost notes, with an Onset Gate to exclude bleed and unwanted hits.
Layering: stack up to 8 sample layers per trigger, and shape each through an internal version of Waves' CR8 sampler.
Humanize: keeps the dynamics and feel of the original take rather than firing identical hits.
COSMOS inside: browse and audition samples in context with Waves' AI sample manager, which comes with 1,400 curated drum one-shots.
InTrigger Live: a zero-latency version for live sound with a manual threshold and 4 layers (no Learn or COSMOS).

When to use it

InTrigger Drum Replacer is closest to UVI Drum Replacer and XLN Addictive Trigger. Where Addictive Trigger ties into XLN's own drum sounds and Drum Replacer focuses on detection and replacement, InTrigger stands out for its one-click Learn detection, sample layering with a built-in sampler, and an included live version for real-time triggering.

Best for: reinforcing or replacing close-miked kick, snare and toms, fixing weak recordings, and live kick/snare triggering.
Genres: rock, metal, pop, hip-hop and any genre with recorded drums.
Look elsewhere if: you need to pull hits out of a full mix or loop with heavy bleed; Mix found source quality still matters.
Standout: the Learn workflow that sets detection automatically and picks up ghost notes.

What producers say

Reviewers and buyers find detection accurate and the workflow fast; complaints are about small UI targets and COSMOS glitches.

Mix (2026) Robert Hanson called it "a very intuitive product" with highly accurate detection and said "Where the product shines is on close-miked kick, snare and tom tracks."
Waves customers (2025–2026) rate it 4.3 out of 5 from 125 reviews; one augmented two songs in about an hour and wrote "The entire workflow is so well thought out."
Gripe: a user (2025) said "some of the things you need to click on are very tiny" and timing was off in places; Mix noted it sometimes failed to access COSMOS.
