What it does
Enigma is a modulation effect that goes beyond standard phasing and flanging by combining several processors.
- Signal path: time delay, frequency shifting, filtering, a delay loop and a reverb.
- Modulation: an LFO system to move the effect.
- Sound: Waves says it lets you twist, bend and mangle your sound.
When to use it
Reach for Enigma when you want evolving, unusual textures rather than a classic phaser. For plain chorus or flanging, simpler effects are quicker.
- Best for: pads, guitars, synths and sound design.
- Genres: electronic, ambient, experimental.
