What it does
Curves AQ is billed by Waves as the first autonomous EQ. You press Learn and it analyses your audio, then builds EQ profiles based on the material.
- Learn: analyses the source and generates five EQ profiles for you to choose from.
- Smart Tilt and Offset: reshape or shift the target curve.
- MixSense: uses a side-chain to adjust to competing tracks.
- Release: launched April 2025, with a zero-latency Live version for stage and broadcast.
When to use it
Use it when you want a quick, data-led tonal balance starting point instead of hand-drawing an EQ curve. It is closest to smart:EQ 4. If you prefer full manual control, Pro-Q 4 remains the standard.
