What it does
MR Click 6 removes clicks and crackle from vinyl transfers and other recordings with impulsive noise. Wave Arts uses separate processors for the two "because of the different nature of the contaminants."
- Click removal: detection algorithms find individual clicks and process only those events rather than the whole signal.
- Crackle removal: a separate algorithm tuned for the dense, low-level crackle of worn records.
- Onset detection: lets the crackle processor skip musical attacks, so drum hits and plucks stay bright.
- Event display: a stereo display shows signal level and marks detected clicks, crackle and onsets for each channel.
- Monitor: hear only what has been removed, to check that no musical detail is going with it.
- Latency compensation: reported to the host so processed tracks stay in time.
It is part of Wave Arts' Master Restoration Suite alongside MR Noise and MR Hum. The current version is 6 (build 609 on macOS, 610 on Windows). It works in mono or stereo at up to 192 kHz. A free trial is available.

When to use it
MR Click 6 is an affordable real-time de-clicker and de-crackler in one plugin, aimed at vinyl and archive work. Compared with iZotope RX 12, it has no spectral repair for the big clicks and thumps that automatic processing misses, and reviewers found earlier versions weaker on large clicks. Sound On Sound found its 2007 version on par with Waves X-Click but behind Sonic Solutions' NoNoise. Unlike MR Noise 6, it leaves steady hiss alone, so the two are meant to be chained.
- Best for: digitising records and cleaning old transfers with regular clicks and surface crackle.
- Genres: general purpose; archive and restoration work.
- Look elsewhere if: you have large, damaging clicks or mouth clicks in modern vocals; RX 12 or SpectraLayers Pro 13 can repair those by hand.
- Tip: Tape Op found the presets missed some crackles and took out percussion, so tweak the advanced settings and check with Monitor.
What producers say
Reviewers of earlier versions saw it as the weakest part of the suite: useful for ordinary clicks, less so for heavy damage.
- Sound On Sound (Mike Thornton, 2007 shootout) liked the colour-coded click and crackle display, but large clicks left a residual thump: "I was still getting a dull thump."
- Tape Op (Garrett Haines, 2008) found the presets missed some pops while removing good percussive detail, and needed advanced tweaking.
- MusicRadar (2007) said it reduces obvious vinyl clicks well, but warned that pushing the crackle filter removes sudden high-frequency sounds.
