When to use it

Presser is an affordable character compressor for quick punch and warmth without stacking extra plugins. Its Glue knob lets one plugin move between peak control and bus-style smoothing, where The Glue sticks to its SSL bus character. Compared with Pro-C 3 it has far fewer styles and less detailed sidechain options, but it adds saturation and a transient-boosting dynamic EQ in the same window. Unlike the CLA-76, it does not model a hardware unit; its colour comes from the Heat and Punch controls.

Best for: adding punch to drums, bass and rap vocals, and light glue on buses.
Genres: hip-hop, rap and trap, plus pop.
Look elsewhere if: you need transparent, highly detailed compression (Pro-C 3), a classic hardware sound (CLA-76 or the 1176 Collection) or multiband control.
Tip: raise the detector high-pass when bass makes the whole mix pump.
