Loop Engine 3 is a MIDI generator from W.A. Production that builds chord, melody and polyrhythmic loops with up to eight voices.

What it does
Loop Engine 3 is a multi-voice MIDI generator: it builds chord progressions and then spreads them over several voices that play related parts, so one instance can produce chords, riffs and arpeggios that fit together. The developer aims for "a perfect balance of depth and simplicity".
- Eight voices: up to eight independent, color-coded voices on a circular interface, each able to split chord notes or extend beyond the chord shape.
- Harmony: 21 chord functions with inversions and lengths, adjustable chord speed, key and velocity, plus Type and Tension controls in Advanced Mode.
- Passing notes: auxiliary passing notes that fill in the movement between chords.
- Polyrhythms: the POLY feature generates polyrhythmic patterns you can audition and tweak in real time.
- Views and editor: Chord, Loop and Voice views, a scrollable piano-roll note editor with free note lengths, a temporal offset for micro-timing, and undo.
- Listener plugin: a companion plugin that picks up a chosen voice, so each voice can drive its own instrument on a separate DAW track.
- Presets and export: a preset manager with tags and categorized sequence presets (chords, riffs, arpeggios), and drag-and-drop MIDI export.
The current version is 3.0.7 (February 2025). It is on sale, with an upgrade price for earlier owners. The demo is limited to major chords. A PDF manual and a tutorial video are included.

When to use it
Loop Engine 3 is the pick when you want several interlocking MIDI parts from one place rather than just a chord track. Compared with W.A. Production's own Chords Pro, it adds multiple voices, passing notes, polyrhythms and a piano-roll editor, at the cost of a busier interface. Unlike Xfer Cthulhu, which is a chord-memory and arpeggiator tool driven by your own playing, it generates the whole multi-part loop itself. It is less theory-led than Scaler, but its Listener plugin makes it easy to send bass, chords and leads to separate instruments. At its usual sale price it is an inexpensive way to get layered, shifting loops.
- Best for: evolving, polyrhythmic chord, riff and arpeggio loops spread over several instruments.
- Genres: techno, trance, house and hip-hop, which the developer names as its targets.
- Look elsewhere if: you only need a chord progression (Chords Pro is simpler), or you want a theory-led songwriting assistant (Scaler).
