Synchron Strings Pro by Vienna Symphonic Library

A large string section library (14 first violins, 10 second violins, 8 violas, 8 cellos, 6 basses) recorded on VSL's Synchron Stage in Vienna, with many legato types and a deep set of articulations.

It runs in the Vienna Synchron Player and suits detailed orchestral mock-ups and immersive (surround and Atmos) mixes.

Best for: Acoustic Instruments. Genres: Ambient & Cinematic, Jazz, Acoustic & Classical.

Keywords: strings, monophonic, sample-based, thin.

What it does

Synchron Strings Pro is Vienna Symphonic Library's main string section library, recorded at Synchron Stage Vienna and built for expression and realistic note transitions.

Sections: 14 first violins, 10 second violins, 8 violas, 8 cellos and 6 double basses, with tutti and octave-combined patches.
Long notes: sustains with attack and release variants, marcato, soft attacks, crescendos and diminuendos, tremolos.
Legato: agile legato for runs and fast figures, plus regular, portamento, flautando, senza vibrato and molto vibrato legatos.
Shorts and effects: spiccato, staccato, détaché, sforzato, flautando, ponticello, col legno and harmonics.
Mics and player: 8 mic positions in the Full Library (5 in Standard), including Decca tree, surround and height mics for stereo, 5.1, Auro 3D and Dolby Atmos. Runs in the Vienna Synchron Player.

When to use it

Synchron Strings Pro is the most technically thorough of the rated string libraries, with the widest set of legato types and a large section size. It shares its focus on detail with Berlin Strings, but is slower than Cinematic Studio Strings to get a finished sound from.

Best for: detailed mock-ups, fast runs (agile legato) and projects mixed for surround or Atmos.
Genres: film, TV and game scores, and classical writing.
Look elsewhere if: you want a warmer, ready-made cinematic sound with less setup (Cinematic Studio Strings) or a lower price.

What producers say

Published reviews couldn't be read for this batch (the developer's page and the review sites were unreachable or rate-limited), so this section is thin.

MuseHub (2026) included VSL's Synchron libraries in its orchestral guide as the choice for maximum articulation depth and control on demanding projects.
