What it does

Synchron Molzer Organ samples a 1938 pipe organ by Ferdinand Molzer, with a history at the Vienna State Opera, recorded on the Vienna Synchron Stage. VSL pitches it as equally at home in church-style playing and in "deep swirling Leslie speaker sounds" for rock.

VSL recommends an 88-key keyboard. The product page lists no demo.

When to use it

Synchron Molzer Organ is the pick when you want a real pipe organ that blends into an arrangement instead of dominating it, at a modest price. Compared with VSL's Great Rieger Organ, it is far smaller (25 stops against 116), much cheaper and more intimate, while the Rieger gives the huge, noble sound of a full concert organ. Unlike Organteq 2, which models its pipes, it is a recording of one historic instrument in a real hall. It also covers Leslie-style rock tones, though for a true tonewheel organ Blue3 is the more direct choice.

What producers say

Early forum reaction was warm, with users welcoming it as a lighter, more blendable partner to the Great Rieger Organ.
