What it does

Studio Upright Bass is a compact sampled "upright bass with jazz articulations" from Vienna Symphonic Library. It was played by Austrian jazz bassist Bernd Konzett and recorded on VSL's fairly dry Silent Stage, and is aimed at jazz, swing and crossover work.

It runs in the Synchron Player.

When to use it

Studio Upright Bass is the pick when you want a real, played jazz upright for walking lines and combo parts at a low price. Compared with MODO BASS 2, it is a sampled recording of one player rather than a modelled instrument, so it has jazz-specific articulations and noises but none of MODO's many electric basses or physical tweaks. Compared with Trilian, it covers only the upright, but goes deeper into jazz playing for far less money. It is also much smaller than broad sample libraries.
