What it does

It plays in the free Vienna Synchron Player and was recorded at VSL's Synchron Stage Vienna.

The library has 73,424 samples. It runs in the Synchron Player. Crossgrades are available from VSL's Standard and Full libraries. The pages mention no demo.

When to use it

Studio Special Woodwinds is the pick when your template already has the four standard woodwinds and you need the instruments around them. Compared with BBC Symphony Orchestra Core and Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, which record woodwinds as part of a full orchestra in a hall, it adds instruments those leave out, such as heckelphone, basset horn and contrabass clarinet, plus three-player ensembles. It is also dry, so unlike those hall-recorded libraries you set the space yourself with the built-in reverb or mixer presets. On its own it is not a complete woodwind section, and it is a specialist purchase rather than a starter library.
