What it does
Studio Concert Guitar is a sampled classical guitar with "single notes and chords optimized for keyboard playing". It was recorded on VSL's fairly dry Silent Stage, and VSL says it has improved playability for more fluid performances.
- Instrument: a hand-made, one-of-a-kind concert guitar with arched back construction.
- Short notes: short single notes for picked and plucked lines.
- Long notes: sustained notes plus long special articulations.
- Legato and repetitions: legato transitions, repetitions and fast repetitions for tremolo-style figures.
- Chords: sampled chords and chord variations, so you can play guitar voicings from a keyboard instead of building them note by note.
- Phrases and effects: recorded phrases and guitar effects.
- Placement: mixer presets that place the guitar on the Synchron Stage Vienna, or switch off the internal reverb to use your own.
The library is 12,213 samples. It runs in VSL's Synchron Player. An 88-key keyboard is recommended. No demo is listed.

When to use it
Studio Concert Guitar is a small, cheap classical guitar for orchestral and acoustic work. Unlike Heavier7Strings, which is a steel-string electric for metal with its own amp section, it covers Spanish and classical parts. Compared with Spectrasonics Trilian or MODO BASS 2, which are bass instruments, it fills the plucked melody and chord role. Its chord samples make keyboard-played guitar voicings quicker, but it has no strumming-pattern engine.
- Best for: Spanish or classical guitar parts in film scores, gentle accompaniments and acoustic arrangements.
- Genres: classical, cinematic and acoustic pop.
- Look elsewhere if: you want strumming patterns or a steel-string acoustic; for electric rock and metal guitar, Heavier7Strings or Studio Overdrive fit better.
