TEOTE by Voxengo

An automatic spectral balancer that pushes material toward a target spectral profile, handling gentle resonance taming, de-essing and tilt EQ.

It's built on multi-band dynamics rather than neural networks, with selectable band count, unlinked stereo and up to 8x oversampling.

Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering, Vocals, Bass. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: mastering, multi-band, bass, bus processing, corrective, gentle, low latency, mix bus, mixing, oversampling, spectral, full mix, steep learning curve, dynamic, metering, mid/side, modern, smooth, subtle, utility, vocals, zero-latency.

What it does

TEOTE ("That's Easier On The Ear") is Voxengo's automatic spectral balancer for mixing and mastering. It "automatically performs such tasks like gentle resonances taming, de-essing, tilt equalizing," steering the signal toward a spectral profile tuned to contemporary mastering standards by default.

The demo mutes output briefly every 45 seconds.

When to use it

TEOTE is the pick when you want continuous, automatic balancing with a lot of manual control over bands and profile, at a lower price. Like sonible smart:EQ 4, it balances a track toward a target, though smart:EQ 4 uses learned profiles and a simpler interface; unlike oeksound soothe3, which focuses on resonance suppression, or iZotope Ozone EQ, a manual mastering EQ, it balances the whole track automatically.

What producers say

Users say it sounds natural and compares well with Gullfoss, but takes time to learn.
