Beeper
by Voxengo · Utility · Audio watermark / beep inserter
Not rated yet
A free utility that inserts short beeps, noise bursts or silence into audio at set intervals, to protect demos, previews and stems from unauthorized use.
A random variation control shifts every setting over time so the inserts are harder to strip out automatically.
Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: utility, free, low latency, dialogue, full mix, podcast, resizable UI, undo/redo, A/B compare, bus processing, mastering, mix bus, randomize, transparent, zero-latency.
What it does
Beeper is a free "Audio Protector Plugin" from Voxengo. It embeds short beeps, noise bursts or silences into audio, so you can share demos, previews or stems without handing over a clean, usable copy.
- Three signal types: insert a beep, a noise burst or silence.
- Full control: set the signal type, duration, frequency, loudness and interval between insertions.
- Random variation: a randomization parameter varies every setting, which Voxengo says makes automated removal much harder.
- Transparent between inserts: no processing is applied between insertions, with zero latency at all sample rates.
- Voxengo workflow: stereo and multichannel processing, preset manager, undo/redo, A/B comparisons and a resizable HiDPI interface.
Beeper is free.
When to use it
Beeper is the only plugin in the site's utility section built for this job. You could mute or gate audio by hand with DAW automation or a gate such as StandardGATE, but Beeper does it automatically on a schedule, can add an audible beep or noise burst instead of silence, and randomizes the pattern.
- Best for: watermarking client previews, beat-store demos, stems sent for approval and podcast or voice-over drafts.
- Genres: any; it's a delivery utility, not a sound shaper.
- Look elsewhere if: you need inaudible watermarking or tracking; Beeper is audible by design.
- Standout: the random variation control, which keeps the beep timing and character from repeating predictably.
What producers say
The one KVR user review is positive about the concept but not the sound of the beeps.
- KVR user (2022): rated it 4/5 on version 2.1 and said "The beeps do what they should, but don't sound very pleasant."
- Gripe: the same reviewer found that white noise "comes in and goes out abruptly" and thought muted breaks were the most useful mode.
