What it does
VSM-3 is Brainworx's emulation of the Vertigo Sound VSM-3 Mix Satellite, a saturation processor built around two harmonic generators. Plugin Alliance says it expands on the hardware with extra routing options.
- 2nd harmonic: the FET Crusher adds warmth and richness.
- 3rd harmonic: the Zener Blender adds brightness and detail.
- Routing: the two circuits run in parallel or in series, with a THD mixer with dry/wet, distortion solo, mid/side with solo monitoring, and shape filtering to target frequency ranges.
- Version 1.11.0 (January 2026). Also included in the CORE and PRO subscriptions.
When to use it
VSM-3 is a controlled, harmonic-focused saturator, more surgical than a general drive plugin such as Decapitator. You pick how much second-order warmth versus third-order edge you add, then blend it in.
- Best for: adding presence to buses, mixes and masters without heavy distortion.
Where to buy
- Plugin Alliance: $75
