What it does
VSC-2 is Brainworx's emulation of the Vertigo Sound VSC-2 Quad Discrete Compressor, a stereo VCA compressor for mixing and mastering. Plugin Alliance says the original uses four hand-built discrete "1979" VCAs.
- Ratios: soft mode (rising from 1:1 to 8:1 with signal level), 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 10:1 and a brick mode that acts as a limiter.
- Side-chain: switchable 60 Hz or 90 Hz high-pass, or off.
- Operation: dual mono or stereo.
- Version 1.16.0 (January 2026). Also included in the CORE and PRO subscriptions.
When to use it
VSC-2 is a clean, punchy bus compressor in the same field as the SSL G-Master Buss Compressor and The Glue. The soft ratio mode is its distinctive feature: it starts gentle and stiffens as the level rises.
- Best for: mix bus, drum bus and mastering.
- Look elsewhere if: you want vintage colour or an optical feel.
Where to buy
