What it does

V-Clip 2 is the sequel to V-Clip, which Venn Audio calls its signature plugin. It combines "fully featured multiband saturation, pre/post emphasis, mid-side processing" and asymmetric waveshaping in one clipper.

Up to 10 clipping stages: multiband and mid/side processing, each band or channel with its own clipper.
Clipping curves: a large set of static and variable sigmoid functions, including a 'super soft knee' with a variable knee in the decibel domain, and native asymmetric clipping with separate shapes and thresholds for positive and negative samples.
Pre/post emphasis: an emphasis stage for shaping which frequencies distort.
Oversampling: up to 512x, with three filter types.
Modular GUI and meters: a fully resizable interface whose panels can float in separate windows, with shaper, waveform, oscilloscope, envelope, spectrum and histogram views, plus test tones, noise generators and a sampler for tuning the shape.

Version 1.0.4 (December 2025) comes with a PDF manual. A trial is available, and V-Clip owners get an upgrade discount.

When to use it

Choose V-Clip 2 when you want to split clipping by band or by mid and side, design asymmetric curves, and watch exactly what each stage does to the waveform. StandardCLIP and KClip 3 are quicker to set up than it for loudness clipping on a master or drum bus, and Venn's own Free Clip 2 covers single-band clipping for free.

Best for: drum bus and master clipping, 808 and bass distortion, and detailed saturation where each band needs a different curve.
Genres: hip-hop and trap, EDM, pop and heavy music where loud, controlled peaks matter.
Look elsewhere if: you want a one-knob clipper; StandardCLIP, KClip 3 or Free Clip 2 are faster.
Standout: multiband and mid/side clipping with per-stage asymmetric waveshaping and up to 512x oversampling.

Early coverage praises its depth while warning about the learning curve; there are no KVR user reviews yet.

Plugin Nerds (2026) called it "The most technically comprehensive clipper plugin currently available."
Gripe: the same review lists a steep learning curve and more setup time than simpler clippers, and says it may be overkill for basic clipping.
