VPS Tape Stop is a pitch-down and pitch-up effect from Vengeance Sound for tape and vinyl stop sounds, with tape slip simulation, a low-pass filter and volume fades.

What it does
VPS Tape Stop is Vengeance Sound's single-purpose plugin for tape and vinyl stops and starts. The idea is to go past the classic slow-down, using a sequencer, three envelopes and a tape-slip section to build stepped, wobbling and rhythmic pitch effects.
- Stop and start: Power Down and Power Up times from 5 ms to 5 seconds, with a Pitch dial for the speed of the effect, so it can pitch down into silence or ramp back up.
- Smooth or stepped: a Step Size control turns the smooth pitch curve into stepped, rhythmic pitch changes.
- Tape Slip: simulates worn tape or vinyl, with LFO modulation for wobble.
- Filter and volume: a low-pass filter sweep and volume fades that move with the stop.
- Three envelopes: independent pitch, filter and volume envelopes, drawn in the graphical Curves mode.
- Sequencer and sync: an internal step sequencer triggers the stop, and effect length is set in note values from 2/1 to 1/256, including dotted and triplet.
- Monitoring and extras: a realtime scope, input and output meters with gain controls, a basic limiter, and a Quality slider that trades sound against CPU use. 80 presets are included.

When to use it
VPS Tape Stop is the pick when you want one dedicated tool for stops, starts and pitch wobbles with detailed control over the curves. Compared with Effectrix2 and Stutter Edit 2, it does only this one job but gives separate pitch, filter and volume envelopes and a tape-slip section for the stop itself. Unlike Gross Beat, which mixes time and volume patterns, it focuses on how the pitch falls and rises. Its sequencer only triggers the stop, so it is less of a pattern machine than Effectrix2. It is also cheaper than either of the rated glitch suites.
- Best for: tape and vinyl stop transitions, power-up intros, stepped pitch drops and filter wobbles on loops and full mixes.
- Genres: EDM, house, dubstep, hip-hop and other electronic styles.
- Look elsewhere if: you want stutters, reverses and many glitch effects sequenced together; Effectrix2 or Stutter Edit 2 cover more.
- Tip: set the effect length in note values so the stop lands exactly on the beat, then use Step Size to turn a smooth drop into a rhythmic one.
What producers say
The one full review found it an excellent stop effect that justifies its price, with a few missing conveniences.
- Computer Music (via MusicRadar, 2014) called it "fantastic for conventional tape and vinyl stop sounds" and praised the sequencing, the wide range of note values and the "clever and highly illustrative" presets, saying it is useful well beyond EDM.
- Criticisms: the sequencer only controls the stop, the Pitch control shows no musical intervals, there is no MIDI learn, and wet/dry can't be sequenced.
