What it does
UberMod is Valhalla DSP's multitap delay and modulation effect: up to 32 modulated delay taps, with diffusion and overdrive, covering choruses, ensembles, echoes and odd reverbs.
- Nine tap modes: 2TapChorus, 4TapEnsemble, SuperSix, 6TapRandom, DualEnsemble, 8Tap, 16Phase, 16Tap and 32Tap, each with its own stereo layout and modulation pattern.
- Modulation: parallel slow and vibrato LFOs.
- Sections: Warp, Drive, EQ, Diffusion, Taps and Mod controls.
- Range: Valhalla lists lush dimensional choruses, classic string ensembles, tape and BBD echoes, nonlinear and reverse reverbs, and sounds that "defy categorization".
Current versions are 1.2.8 on Mac and 1.1.6 on Windows.

When to use it
UberMod is the deepest chorus and ensemble tool in the rated list. TriceraChorus and Chorus JUN-6 recreate specific classic choruses with a few controls; UberMod builds anything from a two-tap chorus to a 32-tap wash, and its diffusion takes it into reverb territory. It rewards tweaking more than the others.
- Best for: string-ensemble and dimensional choruses on pads, keys and guitars, BBD-style modulated echoes, and ambient washes.
- Genres: ambient and cinematic, synthwave, rock and indie, and pop.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a quick, recognisable chorus with a couple of knobs (Chorus JUN-6, TriceraChorus) or clean vocal widening (MicroShift).
What producers say
Often described as underrated next to Valhalla's reverbs.
- MusicRadar (2012) called it "boundless modulation at a bargain price", praising the range of effects and the interface.
- Tape Op (John Baccigaluppi, 2016) included it in a positive round-up of Valhalla plugins, describing it as a multitap delay and modulation effect for choruses, delays and BBD effects.
- Gripes: no manual at launch (MusicRadar), and forum users find it harder to understand than Valhalla's simpler plugins.
