What it does
ClickBox is a tiny free plugin that adds randomised digital clicks to a signal. The developer made it after users complained that a clicking bug had been fixed in Plastic Funeral, and admits it is "not useful for much".
- Click generator: produces random digital clicks on top of the incoming audio.
- Origin: recreates the clicking artifact some users liked in the developer's earlier Plastic Funeral plugin.
- Category: KVR files it as a noise generator for sound design and texture.
- Uses: glitch textures, digital crackle and lo-fi sound design.
- Open source: the code is released under GPL 3.
Version 1.0 is free; the free version shows a small banner. The developer's pages do not document its controls.

When to use it
ClickBox is a novelty: a free source of random clicks and nothing more. Compared with Effectrix2 or Infiltrator 2 it has none of the sequencing, modulation or effect chains, so it is a single texture rather than a creative toolkit. Unlike Baby Audio's Super VHS, it adds no tape-style wobble or lo-fi colour, only clicks. Its value is that it costs nothing and does exactly one odd thing.
- Best for: glitch textures and digital crackle in sound design.
- Genres: experimental, glitch, lo-fi and electronic.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a real creative effect; Effectrix2, Infiltrator 2 or Super VHS do far more.
