What it does

Randomachine is a Soundevice Digital plugin, sold by United Plugins, that gives every repeat of a sample its own small differences. Each time it is triggered it re-rolls a set of effects, so copied drum hits or vocal chops stop sounding like the same file played over and over.

A free 15-day trial runs without saving limits or added noise, and updates are free for life.

When to use it

Randomachine is the better pick when the goal is realism rather than effect: small per-hit changes that make programmed or copied parts feel played. Compared with Effectrix2 and Stutter Edit 2, it has no sequencer, stutters or glitch patterns, and it works quietly in the background instead. It is narrower than Infiltrator 2, which stacks many creative effects with modulation, but it is cheaper and much quicker to set up for this one job. Its Transient trigger mode means it reacts to the audio itself, so it works on bounced loops as well as MIDI-driven samplers.

What producers say

The one hands-on review found sees it as a simple, effective cure for repetitive samples, with limited fine control as the main drawback.
