What it does

Lofinity is a JMG Sound lo-fi multi-effect, sold by United Plugins, built as "an easy one-knob degrader" with a deep editor behind it. It draws on more than 100 effects, from tape and vinyl to circuit-bent game consoles.

HIFI/LOFI knob: one master control that scales the depth of every internal parameter at once, so a single move takes a sound from subtle wear to heavy damage.
Algorithms: presets built from up to six effect sections, covering tape, vinyl, VHS, cassette and game console styles.
Six sections: Analogue, Digital, Glitch, Texture, Colour and Utility, with any two effects combined per section.
Effect library: over 100 effects, among them Tape Slip, Vinyl Crackle, VHS, sample rate reduction and a game console reverb.
Editor mode: tweak each effect's amount and curve, change the order of the signal chain and save your own presets.
Randomizer: builds a new algorithm from the effect pool at the press of a button.
Output: Mix knob for dry/wet blending, input and output gain, automatic gain control and a built-in limiter.
Workflow: 64-bit processing at sample rates up to 192 kHz and above, smart bypass with latency compensation, sleep mode on silence and a resizable interface.

It offers a free 15-day trial with no saving limits. Updates are free for life.

When to use it

Lofinity is the pick when you want a wide range of lo-fi damage behind one simple control. Compared with RC-20 Retro Color, it has a much larger effect pool, including digital and glitch effects such as MP3 artefacts, plus a randomizer for new algorithms, while RC-20 keeps its six modules in fixed view and is quicker to read at a glance. It goes much further than Super VHS, which focuses on a single tape and VHS-style colour, though Super VHS is faster for that one job. Next to Infiltrator 2 it is narrower in scope, but every effect is aimed at degradation, so it gets to a lo-fi result faster.

Best for: tape, vinyl, cassette and digital degradation on beats, keys, samples and vocals, plus glitchy textures for sound design.
Genres: lo-fi, hip-hop, electronic, and film and game audio.
Look elsewhere if: you want a proven, simple vintage colour box; RC-20 Retro Color is quicker to learn, and Super VHS is simpler still.

What producers say

Lofinity is new and has little written feedback so far; the one KVR user review is positive.

KVR users rate it 4 out of 5 from one review (version 1.0, Windows, 2026). The reviewer already owned RC-20 but valued Lofinity's extra effects, such as MP3 compression artefacts, phase randomisation and the Glitch section's Pinch, Void and Dilation.
Uses noted: the same reviewer found some algorithms unexpectedly useful for film and game audio, and praised the factory presets.
