FireCharger from FireSonic (sold by United Plugins) adds energy and clarity to dull tracks with spectral dynamic processing, an exciter and tape-style saturation.
Two main controls, Anodize and Magnetize, do most of the work; it is $8 on sale (regular $66).
Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering, Vocals, Drums, Keys & Synths. Genres: all genres.

What it does
FireCharger is a FireSonic enhancer, sold by United Plugins, meant to bring tired or dull tracks back to life. It uses what the developer calls "intelligent spectral dynamic processing" to analyse the audio, then adds energy, brightness and tape-style warmth.
- Charge: the main enhancement amount; Sound On Sound describes the processing as spectral dynamics with parallel compression.
- Anodize: sets how much energy the spectral processing adds; the developer warns it is easy to overdo.
- Magnetize: simulates vintage tube tape-machine saturation for warmth and density.
- Tone: a dynamic high-frequency exciter for brightness and air.
- Dry/Wet: blends the effect; the developer says most jobs need only a preset and this knob.
- Use anywhere: designed for single tracks, buses and the master, with presets for sources such as acoustic guitar, bass, drums and vocals.
- Workflow: 64-bit internal processing at any sample rate up to 192 kHz and higher, smart bypass and a resizable interface.

When to use it
FireCharger is an enhancer more than a saturator: it lifts density and mid-high energy behind a few macro knobs, which suits quick fixes on dull recordings or a whole mix. Compared with Decapitator and Saturation Knob it adds less drive and harmonic grit, and more analysis-based brightening and tape warmth. Next to RC-20 Retro Color it has no lo-fi or wobble tools, so it stays in the clean-up-and-polish role. At its sale price it is one of the cheaper ways to get exciter-style results; at full price reviewers found it expensive for what it does.
- Best for: adding brightness, density and tape warmth to flat acoustic guitars, vocals, bass, snare, overheads or a full mix in a few moves.
- Genres: any; it is a general enhancement tool.
- Look elsewhere if: you want heavy distortion or detailed control over the saturation curve; Decapitator or Saturn 2 go further.
- Tip: start from a preset, then adjust Charge with only a light touch of Magnetize, and keep Anodize below halfway to avoid harshness.
What producers say
Reviewers found it effective and easy, with the main warnings about overuse and the full price.
- Sound On Sound (Paul White, 2021) said it "does a good job" without technicalities, adding density and energy, with the tape emulation working well on bass and drums; he warned it is no fix-all and needs restraint.
- HomeStudioToday (Dave Reed) rated it 4.5 out of 5, praising how it helps tracks cut through, the five-knob interface and the presets; it called it a "buy it on sale" plugin.
- Criticisms: limited control over the tape saturation, an Anodize control that turns harsh above halfway, and a full price HomeStudioToday felt rivals hardware exciters.
