What it does
UnFairchild 670M MkII is Undertone Audio's software version of its UnFairchild vari-mu tube compressor hardware. The hardware was developed by MIXLAND with Eric Valentine over more than six months of refinement.
- Hardware-matched controls: the plugin follows the layout of the hardware unit.
- Three additions: an output level control, a wet/dry mix, and an overall THD control to increase or decrease the unit's distortion character.
- Availability: A 14-day trial is offered.

When to use it
A vari-mu compressor for gentle, thick bus or stereo-bus compression, mastering and smoothing vocals or mixes. The wet/dry mix makes parallel compression easy, and the THD control lets you dial the colour up or down.
