A series of five easy-to-play bass instruments (SLAP, DANDY, ROYAL 2, ROWDY 2 and MELLOW 2), each a different bass and style, from picked rock bass to acoustic double bass.
You play chords and trigger styles with your left hand, and the plugin plays a matching bass line. It's used by songwriters and producers who want quick, realistic bass parts.
Best for: Bass. Genres: Rock & Indie, Pop, R&B & Soul, Metal.
Keywords: bass instrument, strings, chord generator, modern, sample-based, vintage.
What it does
Virtual Bassist is UJAM's line of phrase-based bass instruments, sold singly or as a bundle.
- Five bassists: SLAP (slap and fingers), DANDY (modern-vintage flatwounds), ROYAL 2 (fingered session bass), ROWDY 2 (picked, overdriven rock bass with fuzz) and MELLOW 2 (acoustic double bass).
- Styles and phrases: 346 styles and 7,610 phrases across the bundle, with MIDI drag-and-drop export.
- Modes: Player mode for style-based lines and Instrument mode for playing it as a sampled bass.
- Sound: amp settings plus DI, sound characters and Finisher multi-effect modes.
When to use it
The quickest way to get a believable bass part under a song idea. Compared with EZbass and Trilian, which give more control over the notes you write, Virtual Bassist is about picking a style and playing chords.
Where to buy
- UJAM: $59.70 (regular $199) (Bundle of all five; single instruments $119 regular)
