What it does

SLAP, "The Wild Child", is UJAM's slap and finger bassist. It is built on a Stingray-style bass with active pickups and plays funky, rhythmic lines from the chords or root notes you give it.

A fully functional free demo is available, and the MIDI phrases and sounds are royalty-free.

When to use it

SLAP is the quick way to a convincing funk or pop slap groove when you don't want to program every thumb and pop. Compared with MODO BASS 2, it has far fewer bass models and less control over each articulation, but it plays complete, humanised lines from simple root notes. Trilian covers many more bass types, acoustic and synth included, while SLAP focuses on one slap and finger sound and is much cheaper on sale. Against its sibling DANDY, it is the brighter, more aggressive and more rhythmic choice.

What producers say

The one full review read is very positive about the sound and speed, with the regular price the main drawback.
