What it does

DUST is a preset-led Usynth for "LoFi Dreams & Liminal Space". Its sounds are acoustic and electric sources that have been degraded and filtered into worn, dusty tones, so warmth and imperfection are the point rather than a side effect.

Sound categories: keys and chords, pads and textures, leads, basses, plucks and bells, vox, lo-fi and liminal sounds, and faux-sampled instruments.
Synth patches: 100 synth patches covering those categories, each a finished sound rather than a blank patch.
Macro knobs: five macro knobs per patch reshape the sound in real time, without needing synthesis knowledge.
Surprise: a randomization control that makes variations of the current sound.
Sequencer/arpeggiator: plays phrases and note patterns from a held chord or note, for instant movement in keys and plucks.
Finisher and effects: a Finisher multi-effect block (UJAM lists 80+ Finisher modes across the Usynth line) plus delay and reverb.
Global presets: 100 global presets that recall synth, sequence and effect settings together.
Engine: the shared Usynth engine, with two layers per voice mixing virtual analog, wavetable, FM and multisample synthesis, a multimode filter, 5-stage envelopes, LFOs and a 12-way modulation matrix. You don't edit it directly; you work through the macros.

When to use it

DUST is the quicker pick when you want finished lo-fi keys, pads and textures and don't want to build the wear and tear yourself. Compared with Serum 2 or Vital, it gives you far less control, since there are no oscillator or filter pages to edit, but it gets to a dusty chord pad in a few clicks. Compared with Omnisphere 3, it has a narrow, focused palette at a fraction of the price.

Best for: lo-fi keys and chords, worn pads, liminal textures and faux-sampled instruments for beats and background music.
Genres: lo-fi, chill hip-hop, ambient and cinematic textures.
Look elsewhere if: you want to program patches from scratch (Vital or Serum 2), or need a deep library of vintage and textural sounds (Omnisphere 3).
