What it does

UFX LOFI is UJAM's degradation effect, pitched as "Aged, Broken, and Beautiful". It recreates the flaws of media and gear from 1950s vinyl to 1990s bitcrushers, with one algorithm at a time shaped by a few macro controls.

20 algorithms: Downsample, Bitcrush 1 and 2, Harsh Degradation, Aliasing, Wow, Flutter, Tape Saturation, Vinyl, Transformer, Dropouts, Stutter, Jitter, Random Pitch, Granular Glitch, Broken Speaker, Cheap Filter, Cheap Compressor, Muffle and Slowed Down.
Shape and Tweak: Degrade, Slam and Drive shape the effect; a Tweak section adds frequency, noise and gate controls.
Noise floor: each algorithm has its own original noise source, and the noise level is automatable.
Highlighter and Tape Stop: Highlighter trims low or high end; Tape Stop simulates a tape machine slowing to a halt and starting again.
Filter and Finisher: 40 filter presets (basic EQs, synth filters and more) and 50 Finisher effects, including chorus and granular types.
Surprise: intelligent randomization with a Small or Big range; 150+ categorized presets.

It was released in December 2025. A free download is offered to try it. In July 2026 UJAM and Rhodes gave it away free to newsletter subscribers.

When to use it

UFX LOFI is the better pick when you want many distinct kinds of damage, from tape wow to bitcrushing and broken speakers, in one quick plugin. Compared with Super VHS or RC-20 it has more separate algorithms, but you work with one at a time rather than stacking a full chain of vintage stages. Effectrix2 goes much further on sequenced glitch and stutter effects, while UFX LOFI keeps stutter and dropouts as simple modes. It is also cheaper than most of these, especially on sale.

Best for: lo-fi textures, tape and vinyl wear, bitcrushing, broken-speaker crunch and tape stops on drums, keys, synths, vocals and loops.
Genres: lo-fi, hip-hop, chillhop and electronic.
Look elsewhere if: you want several vintage stages layered at once (RC-20 or Super VHS) or rhythmic, step-sequenced glitching (Effectrix2).

Early coverage treats it as an easy, broad lo-fi tool; there are no in-depth reviews yet.

Synth Anatomy called the UFX pair "two great, easy-to-use effects processors" and liked the minimal-tweaking, wide-range concept.
Bedroom Producers Blog said it covers "a pretty wide range of lo-fi territory", from subtle tape motion to broken-speaker crunch, and suits drums, piano, synths, vocals and full mixes.
