What it does

Finisher VOODOO is UJAM's guitar effects plugin, pitched as "Black Magic for Guitars". It packs ready-made multi-effect chains for electric and acoustic guitar, DI or amped, behind a few macro knobs, and the chains also work on keys, synths and vocals.

50 Modes: each Mode is a complete multi-effect chain, built from a pool of 40 algorithms.
Algorithms: convolution, modulation, dynamics, distortion, EQs, multiband processing, granular and other twisted effects, plus filters and delays.
Finisher knob: the orange main macro, wired into every algorithm of the current Mode and tuned per Mode.
Vari 1 to 3: Vari 1 changes the character of the effect, Vari 2 the modulation settings and Vari 3 the amount of ambience.
Vari 4 and Highlighter: Vari 4 drives UJAM's Highlighter, a combined low-pass and high-pass filter for placing the guitar in the mix; it is in every Mode.
Presets: 150 presets from UJAM's sound designers.
Live use: the controls can be automated and driven by MIDI, including an external pedal.

When to use it

VOODOO is the pick when you want a finished, characterful guitar effect in seconds rather than a chain you build yourself. Compared with Soundtoys Effect Rack or Kilohearts Multipass, it gives far less control over the order and settings of each effect, but it gets to a usable texture with one Mode choice and a turn of the Finisher knob. It is more guitar-focused than Infiltrator 2, whose deeper editing suits sound designers better. It sits beside UJAM's own Finisher NEO, which aims at cinematic sound design rather than guitar tone. It costs less than most of those alternatives.

Best for: ambient and creative guitar textures, quick inspiration while jamming, and adding character to keys and vocals.
Genres: rock, indie, ambient and cinematic.
Look elsewhere if: you want amp-and-pedal guitar tone (an amp sim such as Neural DSP's Archetypes fits better) or full control over each effect (Effect Rack or Multipass).
Tip: map the Finisher knob to an expression pedal through MIDI for live swells.

What producers say

Reviewers like it as a quick, inspiring tone tool; the main reservation is the limited room for real sound design.

Music Production Nerds praised the "playful and straightforward interface" and presets that sound good without hours of tweaking, and liked the MIDI and pedal control for live use.
Criticisms: "advanced and meticulous producers may feel short-handed"; presets don't say which effects they use, and preset sorting could be better.
