What it does

NEMESIS is a drum instrument in UJAM's Beatmaker series for dark, aggressive electronic music. UJAM sells it as "Cyberpunk & Dystopian Beats" for industrial, trailer, bass music and dark electronica, with kits that mix analog-inspired and digital synthesis sounds.

Playing and arranging: phrases and loops sit on your keyboard, so you trigger grooves, intros, fills and endings in real time; a latch mode keeps a groove running after you let go, and Song mode helps build a full arrangement.
Groove controls: adjust intensity and complexity, plus swing and humanize to loosen the timing.
Hypercharge (Special Control): NEMESIS's own macro, which intensifies the drums.
Mix page: per-instrument volume, pan, filter, saturation and ambience, a choice of samples for kick, snare, hi-hat and percussion, and individual outputs for mixing in your DAW.
Master and presets: a master section with compression, saturation and ambience, and genre-matched mix presets to change the overall sound in one click.
MIDI and browser: drag any pattern into your DAW as MIDI, and find sounds with a tag-based browser (mood, genre, BPM). The pitch wheel balances kick against snare and the mod wheel drives the mix intensity.

When to use it

Beatmaker NEMESIS is the pick for hard, distorted, mix-cutting electronic drums without building the kit yourself. Compared with XO or Battery 4, it is less open but much faster to get a dark, processed groove from. Compared with Nerve, it has far less sample editing and sound design, but its sounds arrive already compressed and saturated. Within Beatmaker, it is the harshest, most industrial title, while HYPE stays bright and clubby.

Look elsewhere if: you need a wide choice of kicks or want to design kits and program beats from scratch (XO, Battery 4 or Nerve).

User opinion is split: some praise the hard-hitting, ready-mixed sound, while one buyer found the kick selection weak.

KVR users rate it 5 out of 5 from 1 review (2021, version 1), which called it "hard hitting" and said the drums "will pop out" even in a crowded mix.
Sweetwater buyers rate it 3 out of 5 from 2 reviews. A beginner gave 4.5 stars for the "simple and intuitive controls" and the many presets.
Criticisms: the other Sweetwater buyer (1.5 stars, 2023) found "only like 3 usable kicks" and called it a gimmick, useful mainly for sketching.
