What it does

CHROMED is a drum instrument in UJAM's Beatmaker series for hyperpop, glitchcore and other loud, high-energy electronic beats, sold as "Loud, weird, and fast." It was designed with the artist BABii and sound designer Derek von Krogh.

Kits: 10 drum kits with 16 instruments each, 160 samples in all.
Styles and patterns: 20 styles with 23 patterns each, 460 MIDI patterns, played from the keyboard in a performance layout.
Mix modes: 12 multi-FX mix modes designed for chaotic, glitchy sounds.
Hyperdrive: a special control unique to this Beatmaker, for pushing the sound harder.
Per-track controls: volume, pan, filter, ambience and saturation for each drum, and a sample grid to swap individual sounds.
MIDI drag and drop: drag patterns into your DAW to edit them; all phrases and sounds are royalty-free.

When to use it

Beatmaker CHROMED is the pick when you want ready-made hyperpop and glitchcore drums quickly: choose a style, play keys, and the kits, patterns and effects already fit the genre. Compared with XO and Battery 4, it gives far less freedom to build kits and sequence beats, but needs much less setup. Unlike Addictive Drums 2 or EZdrummer 3, it is not about acoustic drums at all. It is also much cheaper than those, especially on sale.

Best for: distorted, glitchy hyperpop and glitchcore beats and fast idea sketching.
Genres: hyperpop, glitchcore, brostep and experimental pop.
Look elsewhere if: you want to design kits and program beats from scratch (XO or Battery 4) or need realistic acoustic drums (Addictive Drums 2).
