What it does
Emulations of two 1960s tube compressors by Bill Putnam Sr., the UA 175B and 176. UA calls it the only authentic plugin emulation of these units.
- Ratios: 2:1, 4:1, 8:1 and 12:1.
- Controls: independent Attack and Release, headroom controls, and a Dry/Wet Mix for parallel processing.
- Tone: tube amplifier and transformer saturation; can be used as a tone box with little compression.

When to use it
The tube ancestors of the 1176. Choose these for a softer, more vintage-flavoured compression than the FET 1176, on vocals, drums or as a colour box.
Suits classic-sounding rock, soul and pop.
