What it does
Twangström is u-he's spring reverb, which models the springs of tanks found in classic guitar amps rather than using impulse responses.
- Tanks: three tank types inspired by well-known vintage units.
- Tone: a drive and tone stage, plus a multi-mode resonant filter with variable type blending.
- Twang: a control that shakes the springs, by hand or through automation.
- Modulation: a four-mode envelope, an LFO with 8 waveforms and a modulation matrix.
- Details: 76 factory presets, NKS support, resizable interface. Version 1.0.2.
When to use it
Choose Twangström when you want a spring reverb that behaves like a physical tank and can be pushed, rather than a general-purpose hall or plate. Its modulation section takes it beyond a straight amp-spring emulation. For big lush spaces, the Valhalla reverbs in the rated list are better matches.
- Best for: guitar, keys, drums and vocals that need surf, dub or vintage spring splash.
- Genres: surf, rockabilly, dub, garage, country and lo-fi.
