What it does
Filterscape is a bundle of three filter-based tools from u-he.
- Filterscape FX: an effect with two multimode filters (lowpass, bandpass, highpass and notch, blendable), a morphing EQ, stereo delay and sequencers.
- Filterscape Q6: a 6-band dynamic EQ driven by envelope followers.
- Filterscape VA: a polyphonic synth with oscillators and wavetables, built around the same filters and morphing EQ.
- Morphing EQ: eight snapshots you can transition between, with modulation from LFOs, envelope followers and sequencers.
- Filter types: version 1.5 added nine analog-style filters in 2-, 3- and 4-pole flavours.
The current version is 1.5.1.
When to use it
Filterscape is for filter-led sound design rather than surgical mixing. The FX plugin is a creative, animated filter and EQ, while Q6 covers more conventional dynamic EQ work. A general EQ such as FabFilter Pro-Q 4 is the better fit for corrective jobs.
- Best for: moving filter sweeps, rhythmic EQ patterns, and building synth tones around the filters.
