What it does
Bazille is a large polyphonic modular synth that pairs digital oscillators with analog-style filters and a patch-cable matrix.
- Oscillators: four digital oscillators with phase distortion, FM and fractal resonance.
- Filters and modulation: four self-oscillating multimode filters, four ADSR envelopes, two LFOs and a 16-step morphing sequencer per voice.
- Patching tools: two mapping generators (up to 128 steps) and four Multiplex modules for mixing, cross-fading and modulation.
- Effects: stereo delay, distortion (6 types), phaser (2 types) and spring reverb.
- Presets and skins: over 1,700 factory presets, an alternative compact "GearPorn" skin, MPE and MTS-ESP support.
The current version is 1.1.3. A demo is available.
When to use it
Bazille is u-he's deep, hands-on modular. Compared with ACE it has far more modules and a wider sound palette, and compared with Zebra it favours patching by hand over a fixed structure. It's a sound-design instrument first and a preset player second.
- Best for: evolving textures, metallic and FM tones, complex modulation and sequenced patches.
- Genres: ambient, IDM, experimental, cinematic and electronic.
