Moodal by Tritik

Moodal is a modal resonator from Tritik that simulates resonant objects and spaces with up to 1000 modes, shaping how incoming audio rings.

It costs €69 (about $78) as VST, VST3, AU and AAX for macOS and Windows.

Best for: Drums, Sound Design, Keys & Synths, Acoustic Instruments. Genres: Ambient & Cinematic, Electronic & EDM.

Keywords: drums, glassy, freeze, sound design, AAX, cinematic, CPU-light, creative, eerie, metallic, mixing, percussion, physical modelling, snare, spectral, wide.

What it does

Moodal is a modal resonator: incoming audio excites a bank of up to 1000 tuned resonant filters that simulate real or virtual objects and spaces. The developer's example is "Make your snare deeper, or turn it into a bottle."

The current version is 1.2.1. Tritik offers a fully functional demo that occasionally mutes the audio; buying a license unlocks it.

When to use it

Moodal is a specialist: it does one thing, physical-modeling resonance, in more depth than most multi-effects. Compared with Infiltrator 2 or Multipass it has no effect chain or modulation section, but its 1000 modes and drawable curves give far finer control over tuned, object-like tones. Unlike Effectrix2, it has no sequencing; its movement comes from automation and the input itself. It also lacks real-time pitch tracking, so tuned resonances won't follow a melody on their own.

What producers say

Reviewers rate it highly as a deep, niche sound design tool, noting it can get loud and chaotic.
