What it does
Reverb 4 is ToneBoosters' general-purpose studio reverb, which the developer sums up as "space without limits." Its idea is a clean reverb with precise control over spectrum and decay, plus dynamics and creative tools built in.
- Tail shaping: control the spectrum and the reverberation time across frequency, with a graphical EQ-style display.
- Dynamics: compress, gate or duck the reverb so tails stay out of the way of the dry signal.
- Freeze: a high-quality freeze for holding a tail as a sustained pad.
- Shimmer: a dual pitch shifter for shimmer effects.
- Modulation: an integrated LFO with several waveforms that can modulate parameters.
- Display: real-time view of the input and reverb spectrum.
- Immersive and workflow: up to 14 channels for immersive audio, sample rates up to 384 kHz, a resizable interface with colour themes, undo/redo, A/B comparison and preset import and export.

When to use it
Reverb 4 is the better pick when you want a clean, natural reverb with mix-friendly dynamics in one cheap plugin. Compared with FabFilter Pro-R 2 it has a similar focus on shaping decay across the spectrum, plus built-in ducking, gating, freeze and shimmer, at a much lower price. Unlike Valhalla VintageVerb, it does not offer a menu of vintage hardware-style modes and colours. It covers shimmer and frozen pads, but Valhalla Supermassive and Eventide Blackhole go much further for huge, otherworldly spaces. Its 14-channel support also makes it one of the cheaper options for immersive mixes.
- Best for: vocal and instrument reverbs, ducked reverbs that stay clear of the mix, natural ambience, and shimmer or frozen pads.
- Genres: any style.
- Look elsewhere if: you want the character of classic hardware reverbs (VintageVerb) or vast ambient washes (Supermassive or Blackhole).
What producers say
The few user reviews are very positive, praising a smooth, natural sound and an easy interface for the price.
- KVR users rate it 4.67 out of 5 from 3 reviews, calling it "invisible and lush" with a "perfectly natural soundstage" and lovely density.
- Praised: the graphical EQ, long, clean tails, an intuitive interface and value, "a lot of reverb for the money."
- Criticisms: none in the KVR reviews, though two of the three date from 2017.
