Future DS by Three-Body Technology

A spectral de-esser that finds unnatural high-frequency peaks in real time and attenuates only those, leaving the air around them intact.

A Sibilance switch turns it from a dedicated de-esser into a high-frequency harshness limiter for cymbals, strings or buses, with a drawable Priority Curve to weight the processing.

Best for: Vocals, Acoustic Instruments, Drums, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: spectral, corrective, vocals, cymbals, bright, low latency, strings, acoustic guitar, built-in analyzer, bus processing, drums, external sidechain, full mix, lead vocals, linear-phase, minimum-phase, mix bus, built-in mix knob, mixing, organic, oversampling, sidechain input, spacious, tracking, zero-latency.

What it does

Future DS is a spectral de-esser built to "Tame the Harsh. Keep the Air." Rather than reacting to level, it reads the spectrum and attenuates narrowband energy that breaks the spectral envelope, so neighboring frequencies stay untouched.

The demo has no time limit but mutes 1.5 seconds every 15 minutes.

When to use it

Future DS is a spectral de-esser focused on the top end, with a mode that also tames harshness on non-vocal sources. It sits between FabFilter Pro-DS, the familiar split-band de-esser, and Waves Sibilance and Softube Weiss Deess, other detection-based options, on one side, and oeksound soothe3, which goes after resonances across the whole spectrum, on the other.

What producers say

Early coverage is positive about its natural sound, with a note that the Priority Curve takes some learning.
