What it does

DJFX (also sold as DJFX / TRANSITIONS) is a pad-based DJ transition plugin from Thenatan. The idea is to put the effects a DJ uses between sections on 15 pads you can hit on a track or bus, for "pro transitions" in the studio or on stage.

Time pads: Tape Stop (a turntable brake down to silence), Half Time (half speed, an octave down) and Reverse (flips the last beats into the next section).
Rhythm pads: Beat Repeat (loops a slice and rolls it faster into the drop), Stutter (tight 1/16 gate chops on the grid) and Freeze (holds one moment as a sustained texture).
Filter pads: Underwater (resonant low-pass dive), Kill (steep high-pass that removes the bass), Flanger (a jet sweep on the top end that leaves the low end alone) and Sweep (a resonant filter ride down and back up).
Space pads: Inf. Delay (near-endless feedback), Wash Out (ping-pong echo and reverb while the dry signal fades) and Delay Out (the echo carries on after the track cuts).
Build and cut: Rise builds a riser from your own track, and Mute gives a clean gap before the drop.
Riser flavours: 10 types: Phase Rise, Verb Rise, Flutter, Pitch Rise, Pink Noise, Glitch Rise, Unison Synth, Auto Pan, Sub Riser and Crush Riser.
Trigger modes: Momentary, Latch and Bar-Quantised, with the bar mode locking to the next downbeat and a 4-3-2-1 countdown display.
Workflow: every pad can be automated, and pads can be dragged into a different order.

When to use it

DJFX is the quicker pick when you want finished DJ moves on a pad rather than an effect to program. Compared with Stutter Edit 2 and Effectrix2, it has no step sequencer or detailed gesture editing; you get fixed effects like Tape Stop, Beat Repeat and Wash Out that you trigger and automate. It is closer in purpose to Transit 2, which is also built for transitions, but DJFX works as one-shot pads with bar quantising, while Transit 2 is built around a single macro that you sweep across a set length. It is also much cheaper than any of the three at the intro price. The trade-off is less control over how each effect behaves.

Best for: drops, breakdowns and section changes in beat-based tracks, DJ edits and live sets where you want a tape stop or echo-out in one click.
Genres: electronic, EDM, house, hip-hop and trap.
Look elsewhere if: you want to sequence and shape glitch effects in detail (Effectrix2 or Stutter Edit 2), or build long, layered transitions with a single macro (Transit 2), or you work in Pro Tools.
