What it does

M-Loudener is Techivation's hands-on loudness enhancer, built to raise loudness "transparently without compromising their sound quality or dynamic range." It is the manual, multi-control sibling of AI-Loudener.

Sound Effect: 0 to 100%, sets the density and intensity of the effect; the developer says it also adds width and punch.
Drive: adds headroom and loudness; pushed too far it distorts, so a Set Drive button picks a safe level for you.
Softener and Smoother: Softener makes the effect gentler, useful on bass-heavy material or to round transients; Smoother makes it subtler still, and the two can be combined.
Metering: input and output peak meters showing headroom, plus a difference meter showing the change in RMS level.
Match RMS: sets the output to the input RMS so you hear the change in character, not just in level.
Stereo and blend: a mid/side balance control and a 0 to 100% dry/wet mix for parallel use.
Extras: oversampling at 2x, 4x or 8x, presets, A/B with copy, undo/redo, an internal on/off switch and a UI scalable from 80 to 150%.

When to use it

M-Loudener is the better pick when you want loudness with some say over how it sounds. Compared with AI-Loudener, it costs the same but gives you Sound Effect, Drive, Softener, Smoother, mid/side and dry/wet in place of one learned Drive control. Unlike Pro-L 2, Ozone 12 Maximizer or L2 Ultramaximizer, it is not a final ceiling limiter, so it works on single tracks and buses as well as masters. Its Match RMS and difference meter make level-matched judging easier than on most simple loudness tools.

Best for: adding density and punch to drums, buses and masters, with gentler settings for bass-heavy material.
Genres: any.
Look elsewhere if: you need a true-peak limiter for final delivery (Pro-L 2, Ozone 12 Maximizer) or just want one knob (AI-Loudener).
