What it does
M-EQ is Techivation's "context-aware adaptive EQ", a linear-phase equaliser with three Smart Curve bands that reshape themselves to the audio. You set broad low, mid and high ranges, and the curves aim boosts and cuts at the frequencies inside each range that need them.
- Three Smart bands: Low, Mid and High, each with gain or cut, Smart Curve amount (0 to 100%), frequency range, saturation, stereo balance, and solo and bypass.
- Smart Curve Smoothing: sets how fine or broad the curves' dynamic adjustments are.
- Filters: low cut for rumble and mud, high cut for hiss and harsh edges, each with variable slopes.
- Mix Assistant: listens to 3.5 seconds of audio and suggests a starting EQ setting.
- Saturation: per-band drive with a global Saturation Character control, from subtle thickening to warm overdrive.
- Stereo and blend: per-band L/R or M/S balance, plus a mix control for parallel EQ and an output gain.
- Display and quality: a spectrum view showing the adaptive curve in real time, and up to 8x oversampling for clean saturation.

When to use it
M-EQ is the better pick when you want quick, broad tonal moves and are happy to let the plug-in decide the exact frequencies. Compared with Pro-Q 4 it gives up almost all manual precision, with three bands instead of a full parametric layout, but it needs far less time to get a balanced result. Compared with TDR Nova and Waves F6, which are dynamic EQs with thresholds and sidechain, M-EQ hides the dynamics behind one Smart Curve amount per band. Its per-band saturation is something neither Pro-Q 4 nor Nova offers.
- Best for: fast tonal balancing of tracks, buses and masters, and adding a little colour while doing it.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need many surgical bands or detailed dynamic EQ; Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova offer much more control.
