TDR Ultrasonic by Tokyo Dawn Labs

TDR Ultrasonic controls the build-up of ultrasonic content in oversampled recording, processing and playback chains.

It has a linear phase filter, a dynamic ultrasonic gate and a Bat Mode for hearing ultrasonic content, for €30 (about $34.07).

Best for: Mastering, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: oversampling, linear-phase, mastering, full mix, mixing, A/B compare, analog-sounding, built-in analyzer, bus processing, heavy, mix bus, resizable UI.

What it does

TDR Ultrasonic "controls the accumulation of ultrasonic content in oversampled recording, processing, or playback chains." The idea is to stop inaudible high-frequency energy from reaching nonlinear stages, where it would cause intermodulation distortion.

The current version is 1.0.6. The free demo has no time limit but blocks automatic recall. Updates are free.

When to use it

Ultrasonic is the better pick for sessions at high sample rates or with many oversampled plugins, where it keeps inaudible energy out of later saturators and converters. Unlike Volcano 3 or FilterFreak, it does nothing creative in the audible range. Compared with the high-cut in Pro-Q 4, it adds a dynamic gate, Bat Mode for hearing what it removes, a noise-dither option and one-click bypass of every instance. It is the high-end partner to TDR Infrasonic and the cheaper of the two.
