Not rated yet
A high-frequency acceleration limiter by Ohlhorst Digital for mixing and mastering.
It limits only content above an adjustable crossover and responds to acceleration rather than a fixed threshold, so it adapts to any input level.
Best for: Mastering, Mix Bus, Vocals, Drums. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: mastering, mixing, multi-band, vocals, full mix, harsh, spacious, undo/redo, aggressive, bright, bus processing, corrective, cymbals, drums, external sidechain, linear-phase, mid/side, mix bus, repair, sidechain input, silky, simple, subtle, tape.
What it does
OD Limen, named after the Latin word for threshold, is "a high-frequency acceleration limiter designed for mixing and mastering." It isolates and processes only the high-frequency content above a user-defined crossover point, taming sharp peaks while leaving the rest of the signal alone.
- Depth and Tilt: Depth sets limiting intensity from subtle to aggressive; Tilt shapes the spectral balance the limiter responds to.
- Crossover: a linear-phase filter with adaptive slope for clean signal reconstruction.
- Recover: preserves tonal balance; values above 100% add a silky high-frequency quality.
- Monitoring and routing: Focus Listen solos individual bands, with an external sidechain input and L/R or M/S processing.
- Extras: immersive surround support up to 9.1.6, configurable keyboard shortcuts and undo/redo.

When to use it
Limen's closest match on the site is Schwabe Digital HiFAL, another high-frequency acceleration limiter. Limen is broader than de-essers such as Pro-DS, which target sibilance on vocals, and than OD DeEdger, from the same developer, an earlier and narrower take on the same idea. Choose Limen when harsh highs need controlling on full mixes, buses or masters without dulling the top end.
- Best for: smoothing harsh cymbals, bright vocals and brittle masters, and restoring a tape-like top end in digital productions.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need a full-band brickwall limiter for loudness; Limen only processes the high frequencies.
- Standout: level-independent acceleration limiting with a Recover control that keeps tonal balance.
What producers say
Early KVR users are enthusiastic, and several compare it favorably with HiFAL.
- KVR forum (2026) one user called it "a high frequency limiter, a crazy good one at that!!" and found it "far superior" to HiFAL.
- Ease of use: another user said it "Looks simpler to use and slap on than HiFAL."
- In practice: a user struggling with a project wrote "Chef's kiss, problem fixed in a few minutes."
