TC 8210 by TC Electronic

TC 8210 is a reverb plug-in based on TC Electronic's 8210 rack unit, built for clear halls, rooms and other spaces that leave the source intact.

It has eight reverb types and signature presets from producers and engineers; KVR lists it at $69 and Sweetwater at $199.

Best for: Vocals, Drums, Acoustic Instruments, Keys & Synths, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: hardware emulation, mixing, simple, classic, drums, hall, preset-driven, room, vocals, digital classic, licensed emulation, 80s, beginner-friendly, metering, sound design, vintage.

What it does

TC 8210 is part of TC's Icon Series of native plug-ins, alongside TC 2290, TC 1210 and DVR 250, and is modelled on the 8210 rack reverb. TC calls it "the embodiment of TC Electronic's reverb philosophy": clear, natural air that keeps the source's character.

The current version is 2.1.0. Neither source mentions a demo. TC Electronic's own product pages currently return a 404 error, so the details here come from KVR, Sweetwater and Mixdown.

When to use it

TC 8210 is the simple, low-cost choice in TC's range: a clean mixing reverb with a short list of types and few controls. Compared with Valhalla VintageVerb it has fewer modes and less lush, era-specific colour, and it aims to stay transparent. It is far less deep than FabFilter Pro-R 2, which gives much finer editing. Against TC's own VSS4 HD it is simpler and much cheaper but lacks the true-stereo source placement.

What producers say

The review we read, of the controller bundle with the same plug-in, liked the sound and the easy workflow.
